What is Uncle Rafool’s 121?
Uncle Rafool’s 121 is an interview platform launched on the eponymous host’s YouTube channel in April 2015. Each episode usually features UK rappers being interviewed by the comedy character Uncle Rafool. The series can be found on his YouTube channel, which also features a range of other content.
The series has included appearances from Tion Wayne, Ms Banks, AM & Skengdo, as well as a number of musicians based in London. Comedians and content creators have also been featured in the series.
Uncle Rafool’s 121 Format
The Uncle Rafool’s 121 interview format usually features the host pretending not to know who the guest is and urging the individual to introduce themselves, before asking them humorous questions about their current activity.
The content is recorded in a variety of locations. Initially all interviews were conducted in an enclosed studio environment. Started January 2017 they were instead conducted in the guest’s local area (such as Tion Wayne in Edmonton, Harlem Spartans in Kennington and Dimzy in Brixton Hill). In some videos the recordings are outdoors in public.
As Uncle Rafool is a comedy character he often attempts to joke with the guests by mispronouncing their names, things they say and pretending not to understand what they are talking about. This interview style has annoyed many guests and had led to a number of them intimidating him and urging him to end the interview early.
