What is 90s Baby Show?
90s Baby Show is a lifestyle podcast created Temi Alchémy and Fred Santana, two south London-raised friends born in the early 1990s. The content focuses on casual conversations between the hosts about a broad range of topics. All of the output is centred around a foundation in Black British culture for those that experienced their teenage years in the 2000s.
In 2021 their cameraman and producer VP assumed a more consistent role on camera, and gradually became the third host of the podcast.
The 90s Baby Show is informal, unscripted and contains a lot of improvised comedic exchanges between the hosts. The format has also featured as a show on Radar Radio and the concept has also been adapted for a number of live shows since its early days.
The podcast often features guest, including many notable Black British musicians, content creators and podcasters in the sphere. Guests include Scorcher, Poet, Harry Pinero, Nella Rose and John Fashanu.
90s Baby Show podcast launched in late 2015. Its YouTube channel also hosts content from a range of the cast’s associates, in addition to Temi, Fred and VP’s spin-off podcast Things We Watched, which launched in 2023.
90s Baby Podcast Hosts
90s Baby Show is hosted by a trio of friends from south London, all of which are of west African heritage.
Temi and Fred have appeared on a number of other platforms billed as ‘90s Baby Show’, ‘90s Babies’ or ‘1.9.9.2. Boys’ or by their individual names. Between 2018 and 2019 Temi, Fred and Tyra Wills were the hosts of the Mixtape Madness music talk show #NextTopic.
Since 2021 VP has also appeared with Temi and Fred on other channels.
Fred Santana
Fred Santana (Alfred Ajani) has a marketing background and experience as a youth footballer with Woking FC. Prior to the podcast in 2014 Fred went viral after attempting to secure a graduate role by handing out CVs at Waterloo Station. The stunt secured him a job as well as coverage in The Mirror, Daily Mail and The Huffington Post.
On the podcast Fred is known for feigning ignorance to many different topics for comic relief. He is also often responsible for moving the conversation to new topics whenever there is a pause in the flow.
Temi Alchémy
Temi (Temidayo Oladmineji) is a married dad of one. He grew up in Kennington and went to school with Fred. Temi has an extensive background in recruiting and has worked for both Spotify and TikTok.
VP
VP (Dennis Skinner) is a long-term friend of both Temi and Fred. He was the 90s Baby Show’s videographer since 2017, before appearing as a guest in September 2020 and then going on to be the third on-camera personality on the podcast from 2021. VP has also produced content for the Chicken Connoisseur’s YouTube channel.
90s Baby Show Format
90s Baby Show Standard Format
90s Baby Show has evolved over the years to the format it currently takes. The show is in a laid-back podcast format with the hosts and guests sat together on sofas in casual conversation. The cameras record from the moment everyone sits down – often providing the most candid insights into what the guests and hosts are like behind closed doors.
When the podcast moved from audio-only to video in 2018, the recording environment – The 90s Room – became a gimmick of the show. The visuals were known for green screen elements in which relevant images were shown behind the hosts (and any guests) during conversations, before they moved their permanent home studio in 2022.
The show often involves many anecdotes about past experiences. Fred often also poses many rhetorical scenarios (sometimes submitted by listeners) for everyone to discuss.
When guests appear on the show the hosts avoid back and forth interview style interactions. Instead they involve them in the conversations they are having and unpack aspects of their lives and careers through topic points over the course of the podcast.
Other core features of the 90s Baby Show include:
The 90s Baby Helmet
The 90s Baby Helmet is a prop used within the show as a penalty to those that make inexcusable errors during the recording.
Reasons for being awarded the helmet include:
- Incorrect pronunciation
- Poor general knowledge
- Phrasing things in odd ways
- False statements
90s Trivia
Starting in October 2022 a quiz has featured on 90s Baby Show focused on 1990s trivia. This feature is used when guests appear on the show (as opposed to times when it’s just the three hosts).
90s Baby Show Introduction
The 90s Baby Show introduction is a notable feature of the podcast, especially on episodes featuring a guest. Because each instalment begins with a cold start, they record the introducing deep into the session (sometimes over an hour after they have begun).
90s Baby Show Topics
90s Baby Show features a free-flowing conversation structure where the majority of the content is completely improvised on the spot. However, many topics frequently come up including:
- Growing up in London
- Black British culture
- Films
- Black British music
- Romantic relationships
- Current affairs
- Advancing in adulthood

90s Baby Show Development
Fred secured a marketing job at a recruitment consultancy in 2014 and was able refer Temi. After some time they agreed they wanted a platform to express themselves and settled on creating a podcast.
salute anyone doing a show or podcast. Looks easy but it isn’t. Just did a trial for #90sbaby. Alot of work to do. pleasure to work though
— Mr Alchémy 🎯 (@temiAlchemy) October 21, 2015
In October 2015 Temi and Fred recorded trials together over the phone and then via Skype, before they released snippets of the show and then finally full episodes in late 2015.
Note: the majority of the early content – including nearly all of the 2016 recordings – are no longer accessible on its original home (SoundCloud).
90s Baby Network
90s Baby TV
In 2016 the team started producing shortform visual content the show. Prior to the 90s Baby Show’s standardised video podcast format VP filmed vlog content of Temi and Fred starting in 2017.
This included behind the scenes footage from their days on Radar Radio (with appearances from personalities from the station including Snoochie Shy and Hemah K), live shows, fitness challenges and more. Other content shared to the channel included 90s Baby News and other experimental videos.
Eventually vlog content would be phased out and feature only infrequently in favour of podcast visuals.
90s Baby Network Development
In 2020 the 90s Baby Show YouTube channel expanded to form the 90s Baby Network, which featured videos from other creators such as Denice Koduah. In addition to this VP and Temi introduced their own individual shows to the channel.
90s Baby Network shows include:
- The Block Report (later featured on Mixtape Madness)
- Gaming with VP
- Your Girl Says
- Mind x Muscle TV
- Babes with Fades
- Sunday School
- Between the Margins Podcast
- 2 Gs in a Pod
- Talks with Aa B
- The Green Passport
- Shotgun with Alchémy
Things We Watched
Things We Watched launched as a separate standalone entertainment podcast in January 2023. The podcast features all three members of the 90s Baby Show as hosts exclusively discussing film and TV; moving these conversations away from the original platform.
90s Baby Show on Radar Radio
The 90s Baby Show was an hour-long feature on Radar Radio starting in October 2016. Temi and Fred presented a regular hour-long show where they would play a handful of UK Rap and Afroswing songs (3 to 5 per show) and fill in the rest with conversations with one another and occasionally with guests too.

— Mr Alchémy 🎯 (@temiAlchemy) October 25, 2016
The topics on the Radar show were very similar to the direction they would go in. The pair were candid about relationships, their opinions on music and their past experiences. Video content on Radar Radio was inconsistent for all of the shows, but a number of 90s Baby Show clips feature on the YouTube channel.
They remained at Radar until 2018.
