What is Take the Crown?
Take the Crown is an interview-based platform in which guests are asked a series of questions that require names or places as answers. Take the Crown launched in November 2022 on JD’s YouTube channel and features a range of hosts that have previously featured on their other content
The show has featured guest appearances from a range of sports and music personalities including Anthony Joshua, Ms Banks and Knucks.
Take the Crown Format
The premise of Take the Crown is to build a story of a person’s career based on a 12-question interview. Each of the questions require a name or place as the answer – the one that ‘takes the crown’ as the most applicable answer.
For each answer the guests write down the answer on cards and place them on a board. The host then asks follow-up questions to get more context and information.
Take the Crown has featured musicians and sportspeople as guests. For each the direction of the questions differ to suit the subject matter. Many of the questions are repeated between episodes.
Examples of questions for musicians include:
- Who takes the crown for the collaborator rewrite your verse?
- Who takes the crown for the artist you most want to go on a world tour with?
- Who takes the crown for the collaborator went most left on a verse?
- Who takes the crown for the live performer that made you want to step up your game?
For sportspeople, the questions revolve around key moments in their career including what led up to their professional foundations.
